On Resurrection Sunday:
“‘His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. And now, go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I have told you.”’ Matthew 28:1-7
Wow Lord. Today is the day that we celebrate You & Your victory!!
Lord, I can’t help but say thank you today. I can’t help but to meditate on how sweet this day is, to celebrate your victory today after walking with you on your journey of suffering, looking to you on the cross, and waiting for you on Saturday. Jesus, you are such a king. You are such a marvelous, victorious victor. You are such a friend, such a brother, such a Holy, loving God. You are everything good, and everything to me.
Lord, my entire life depends on your life, death, and resurrection. All that I stand for, all that I breathe for, all that I hope for, all that I am, is because of who You are and what You have done. I still remember that day, Lord, when I gave my life to you. I remember how broken and hopeless I was. How broken my relationships were, and how angry I was toward the world.
And then you took me in, right there at the altar of that church where I felt your love pour over me. You showed me that you were real, that you were with me, that you were with me the entire time and I just never had the eyes to see it. You showed me that you could do something much better with my life than I ever could.
You changed my life, and you changed me. You softened my heart and gave me a reason to live. You helped heal my relationships with my family members, you put me around people who loved me well, and you gave me a reason to sing. You have me a new identity as the daughter of a powerful, amazing, all-good God.
You make me better, Jesus. You give me hope that Lord, even in the midst of life here, God is real and good and heaven awaits. Heaven is being with you, who loved me through this life, who loved me more than how broken I was, more than any love I could have ever known. My heart beats for loving you back Jesus.
Jesus, you are everything that everyone before you were waiting for, even those who didn’t accept you when you came. You are everything that the disciples have hoped for. You are everything that I wanted, even when I didn’t know it. You offered a right relationship with God through your death on the cross and the victory of your resurrection. Now, Lord, you are resurrecting me, working on my heart, loving me to become more like You in this world, giving me hope daily that eternity with you will come.
You are my everything, and today, I celebrate you. May I continue to celebrate you everyday forward.
With love, your daughter,
